tell-tales for spoiled children

Yes, that's right, it HAS BEEN A WHOLE 4 WEEKS since the last one! Not to mention that this whole year in Paris is a one. big. wycieczka (ang. trip). Yikes! There will be some serious adjustments my little kiddies once we are back in North America.

Winter is here!

"śnieg!!! mama, śnieg!! camille!! il neige!! a-ha! ce n'est pas juste Canada qui peut avoir la neige, nous aussi!"* Emilia exclaimed victoriously looking out the window at the fluffy white snow falling from the sky. It was official: winter is here. Until now they refused to believe it's winter, but now! Never mind that it is +4C and the flakes were turning into wet spots before they even hit the pavement. Never mind that the pelargonie (ang. geranium) in the window boxes across the street never stopped blooming. Never mind that in the park next door daffodils are coming out of the ground. It's finally winter!

geography lesson

French people get very excited for some reason when we tell them that we came from Canada/Québec. There is this feeling that I can only compare to hosting a younger cousins from a village coming for a visit to a big city.

We met our next door neighbours the other day. A great young family with two children. As we introduced ourselves we mentioned we came from Québec. The mother immediately turned to her 4 year old and with an unhidden joy exclaimed: "Regarde Anna, ils viennent du Canada! C'est juste à côté du Québec!"* Ha! take that Canada! ;)


* "Look Anna, they came from Canada! It's right next to Québec"
